On Terlingua Creek (repaint}

Oil on panel, 16"x20"

I have revised this painting again, this time carefully and deliberately repainting areas rather than rushing through the process. I felt this composition had some potential and I wanted to see if I could bring the scene to life.

Big Oak by the Barn

Oil on panel, 8"x10"

This painting was revised from a previous piece. The scene is near La Grange, Texas.

Sierra Del Carmen through the Cottonwoods at Rio Grande Village

Oil on linen panel, 9"x12"

This scene has intrigued me for many years and I visit it nearly every time I travel to Big Bend. During the afternoon, the intense light of the desert washes out the distant Sierra Del Carmens while Rio Grande Village is cloaked in shadow from the large Cottonwoods growing in the fertile valley of the nearby Rio Grande river.

Valley of the Mittens

Oil on panel, 6"x8"

When my children were young we would often set out to Big Bend and further west on camping expeditions. I always carried my camera, and back then it was a 35mm minolta slr. On one of our many trips we set out on a 2 week trip through Old Tucson, Sedona, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Mesa Verde and Santa Fe. Half camping and half staying in hotels, it was one of the best and most fun trips ever. This painting is from photos I took in Monument Valley on that trip.
