Brahma Under the Shady Oaks

As is often the case, if I don't sell a painting right away I get to look at it to long and often repaint it. This is one of those I thought was close but just not quite right. I repainted most of the scene and added the fence. I believe the balance of the large trees is much better, the distant trees are much better and the overall color is much better too. I think I will leave it alone now.

Acrylic on panel, 11"x14"

This was painted entirely in one session on Easter Sunday. I started this piece very loose and kept most of it that way through the finish.

Seasonal Blues

Acrylic on panel. 6"x8"
Another springtime scene in the Texas Hill Country. I might make a few adjustments to this, or then again, maybe not.

On the Fenceline

Acrylic on panel, 6"x8"

Painted using Zorn's palette of cad red, yellow ochre, black and white, this is another scene from just outside La Grange, Texas.

Oak and Cactus

Acrylic on museum board, 6"x6"

Painted from a photo taken near La Grange, I modified the scene quite a bit and pushed the warm colors for contrast.

Early Morning

Acrylic on panel, 6"x8"

Another quickly painted piece from this last weekend. I did make a few minor adjustments this morning  before calling it done.

Blues in La Grange

Acrylic on panel, 6"x8"

This is the second of the 4 pieces I completed this weekend. I will post the others in the next couple days.  I would love to hear some feedback on these.

Blue Hills

Acrylic on panel, 6"x8"

This was a quick and loosely painted study. I did several of these pieces this weekend in an attempt to free up my brushwork and get a little more colorful as well.

East of the Chisos

Acrylic on panel, 11"x14"
Another acrylic piece. This scene is looking east from just north of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend.

Just North of Fredericksburg

Acrylic on panel, 11"x14"
I am doing some acrylic work for a while along with my oils. It's a nice change of pace and I believe I can improve my work in each by doing the other.

Sunrise over the Devils River

Acrylic on canvas, 24"x36"

This scene incorporates part of a ranch with a cookout pavilion and tennis court viewed from a hilltop overlooking the sunrise on the Devils River.
