"Sky and Mountains" revised

Oil on panel, 9"x12"
This painting was originally posted 7/24/2010. I have repainted the sky and immediate forground, removing detail.

"Daydream" revised

Oil on panel, 10"x10"
This painting was originally posted 2/05/2009.

"Late Afternoon Marathon"

Oil on panel, 5"x7"
A small painting that I used quite a bit of artistic license with the reference photo. I see I will have to rephotogragh this piece... the color is washed out in this pic.

"Oaks & Cactus" revised

Oil on panel, 9"x12"
This painting was originally posted on April, 14 of 2010. This scene is north of Fredericksburg, Texas just as spring is arriving in the hill country.

"Iron Mountain" (From behind Joe's House) revised

Oil on panel, 8"x10"
This was originally posted Nov. 4th of this year. I am currently revising several old paintings I wasn't happy with... it's either improve them or trash them. I will continue this trend for awhile and also begin new works simultaneously. This particular piece I have toned down quite a bit, pushing the mountain back and softening the foreground as well. The sky is now mostly cloudy as it was in the actual photo.

"Setting Sun" redo

Oil on panel, 8"x10"
Another of those pieces I just wasn't happy with and felt I rushed it along just to get it done. I reworked it with a new vision and now I'm pleased with the results.

"On the Hillside"

Oil on panel, 14"x11"
This painting was inspired by the change of season.

"Evening Calm-The Bend"

Oil on panel, 8"x8"
I almost threw this painting away a couple days ago. But I left it alone then came back to it this morning with a new vision for it. I am glad I did.

"High in the Desert" redo

Oil on panel, 8"x8"
Often times I look back on paintings I've done and wonder... "what the heck?". This was one of those paintings... I also call them my mulligans. A chance to repaint something and put a different twist on it. The idea is to make it better (of course). I like this much better than the effort a couple weeks ago.

"Chisos"

Oil on panel, 16"x20"
This is the repainted version from a few months ago. The smaller study in the previous post helped me to get the light and shadow colors the way I wanted them. The the scene was in total cloud shadow in the photo I used and the intial painting was flat and had too much foreground detail. I painted out the foreground and made it secondary to the mountains.

"Chisos" study

Oil on panel, 5"x7"
This is a prelim for a redo of a painting I completed some months ago but was totally unhappy with. Thought I would workout the light and shadow on the mountains in a small version before I repainted the larger version.
