I made a few adjustments to this piece and I can't say it's any better than it was but it is different. I was searching for an ethereal feel to this piece, not so much heavenly but light filled. It's a small piece so I will call it done and move on.

Sunset in the Bend
I made a few adjustments to this piece and I can't say it's any better than it was but it is different. I was searching for an ethereal feel to this piece, not so much heavenly but light filled. It's a small piece so I will call it done and move on.

Yucca at Dagger Flats
Oil on panel, 8"x6"
Yucca blooming at Dagger Flats in the northern section of Big Bend National Park. Dagger Flats is off the beaten path but worth the drive when the yucca are blooming.

Canyon at Black Gap

Oil on panel, 8"x10"
This scene is from Black Gap Wildlife Management area just east of Big Bend National Park.
After being out of work since February I just started a new job this last Monday. For sure a double edge sword. I needed to work but my daily commute has been about 1.5 hours each way leaving me little time to paint during the week. With the shorter days and the sun going down so early, I find it difficult to acclimate to painting at night. Hopefully I can adjust and get more painting in.

"Approaching the Chisos"

Just Back from Big Bend where I did some plein air work. It was extremely hot but that did not keep me from my appointed task. This is a rock formation north of and facing the Chisos mountains.

"Hazy Day - Creosote and Sage in the Bend"

Oil on panel, 8"x10"
Not sure where in Big Bend I took the picture I worked from for this painting. It is possibly along the Ross Maxwell.

"Afternoon in the Bend" SOLD

Above-This is the completed and slightly revised painting of "Afternoon in the Bend"

Oil on archival Belgian linen panel, 10"x8" $125.00
This is a common site in the Bend in summertime, a cloudless sky. This painting is not quite finished, the foreground cactus requires a bit more refinement. I will post an updated photo tomorrow.

"In the Bend" SOLD

Oil on panel, 6"x8" $60.00
Most likely my favorite place to be, Big Bend NP the epitome and glory of the Texas transpecos. I would live and paint Big Bend everyday if possible.
*After looking at this painting for a day I noticed a major composition problem and have tried to correct it. This is now the revised painting.
