"Approaching the Chisos"

Just Back from Big Bend where I did some plein air work. It was extremely hot but that did not keep me from my appointed task. This is a rock formation north of and facing the Chisos mountains.

"Gullible"

After the labor of that last large landscape painting, I felt I needed a fast paced small painting. This image of a seagull on the Galveston beach "totally fit the bill". This painting was completed using only burnt sienna, ultramarine blue and white.

"On the River"

This is the larger version of this scene I recently painted. I have a very difficult time getting a usable photo of anything over 12"x16". The color is dingy and washed out. I had to shoot it outside which created a blue cast over the entire photo, which I attempted to correct. My camera just isn't good enough and eventually I will have to invest in a much better one.

Another close up view of bluebonnets. I manipulated the design quite a bit in this piece, painting and deleting detail before I liked the overall composition.

This scene is near Basalt, Colorado. I painted this as a study for a larger version of the same scene. I am hoping I can bring a little more life into it on a larger scale.

I have been wanting to paint some sunflowers and hadn't painted any in a while so I went to the store and picked some up, set them up in the studio and have started a couple. This is the first but I may retouch the background after it dries.
