Painted from a photo taken near La Grange, I modified the scene quite a bit and pushed the warm colors for contrast.

Early Morning

East of the Chisos

I am doing some acrylic work for a while along with my oils. It's a nice change of pace and I believe I can improve my work in each by doing the other.

Sunrise over the Devils River

This scene incorporates part of a ranch with a cookout pavilion and tennis court viewed from a hilltop overlooking the sunrise on the Devils River.

Breaking Out of a Fog

This is a conceptual piece. I was trying to convey a mood and feeling of early morning fog beginning to burn off and a bit of sunlight breaking through.

This is a commissioned piece. I love painting seascapes and sunrises too.... it makes a nice combination. I used  some of my Houston sky photos combined with Galveston ocean pictures to create the scene.

Morning in the Chisos

I repainted sections of this piece several times, most of the time eliminating extraneous details. This is a morning scene from the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park as the sun has crested the mountains and begins to shine through the trees.

Boo

I will re-photograph this piece, I accidently cut off the bottom of the image and part of my signature. I might add more to the background, I'm not sure yet.

Chief Study #1

I am going start doing a lot more portrait work and most likely many indian portraits. This is numero uno. I want to keep them loose and focus on the faces.

Desert Plateau

I have once again revised this painting (top image).... not liking the candy look of the mountains I reduced them a little and made them much more gray, pushing them back into the distance a little more.

This scene is from Big Bend National Park. It is a view from the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive on a high plateau. This is the 5th consecutive New Years Day I have completed and posted a painting of Big Bend.
