Arroyo Vista
Oil on panel, 6"x8"
I have painted this scene before but never with so much thought before laying paint down. I modified the scene just a little for the sake of the design and used fewer values to tie elements together. I carefully manipulated edges to lead the eye throughout the scene. This painting was done at the request of a friend and collector. Painted from photos taken in Big Bend National Park.

Valley Girls (Fer Sure, Fer Sure)
No doubt I will attempt to take a better photo of this piece and possible do more work on it if I feel it necessary. With the cattle grazing in the valley I just couldn't resist the title, no disrespect to Frank or Moon Zappa.

Desert Plateau - redo
I have repainted the mountains and a few foreground areas of this painting that was originally posted on January 1st of this year. The changes are significant enough to warrant reposting it today. I felt the mountains were overbearing in color and broken in form. I have also posted the new version along with the old version on the January 1st post here on my blog if you would like to compare the two.

Chilicotal
A revised version of this painting is posted above.
Oil on panel, 8"x6"Southwest of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park is Chilicotal Mountain. I have painted this by simplifying the scene to basic elements and placing a foreground cactus at the bottom of the painting.
Little Creek
Oil on panel, 8"x10"
This scene is painted from an old slide reference I shot years ago. I'm not sure where the actual creek is. The slide had very little detail, the trees were almost a silhouette against a deep blue sky so I fudged the color and modified the composition a little too.

Frio at Concan
Oil on linen panel, 11"x14"
This is the Frio river just below Garner State Park. The water here is very shallow, cool, and clear. A favorite spot for tourists and locals alike during the hot summer months.
