Foot of the Hills

Oil on panel, 11"x14"
Another scene from near Bandera, Texas. I almost divided this canvas in half with the bottom of the tree line. I think I kept it just off center enough to work but it is dangerously close.

Great painting. I sometimes love to ignore the supposed rules about composition (don't put anything dead center, don't divide in halves, etc.) I think when there's enough elements to balance it there can be a wonderful tension in an otherwise calm scene. I think it works beautifully here!

It appeals to me. I like seeing the meadow as well as the trees and hills. Nice!
