OK, so I am a liar. I said I would post an image of turkeys number two no matter what state the painting was in but I am just not happy with how it has progressed and have wiped the canvas down. So I decided to upload an image of sunflowers I painted from life a couple months ago. I hope you enjoy.
By the way, doing small paintings of turkeys has created quite a challenge in that I do not like painting small details and would rather throw the small detail brushes in the garbage, but turkeys by nature have a lot of small detail that makes them very unique and beautiful birds. Maybe I will paint them a bit larger and fill the small canvas with a more close up turkey.

Turkey painting number two is well in progress but again I leave an unfinished canvas on the easel. I am taking more care in applying paint to this piece, I want to arrive at a fairly good painting without to much fuss. Hopefully tomorrow I will see this painting to completion. I will upload an image of it at the end of tomorrows session regardless of where it stands.

Ok, turkey painting number one is complete and as they say, "you live by the sword, you die by the sword". This is a very modest beginning, painted a bit on the sloppy side. I have almost nowhere to go but up thank goodness. I have already started the next painting, this time a bit larger (8" x 10") and on linen rather than the inferior canvas of the first painting. That in itself should provide for a better painting.

Just as I had hoped and planned for, I got the ball rolling today by starting off with a very small 6" x 8" oil sketch of everyones favorite bird this time of year. Two wild turkeys painted monochromatic on a toned background, very simply stated with little detail. The goal was to get this painting done in one session, but it isn't completed and I will apply more paint to it tomorrow and hopefully finish it.
As I often do, once I start painting a subject I will paint several of the same until I am satisfied with what I have accomplished. So look for more turkey paintings coming up, after all it is the fall and Thanksgiving is just around the corner.
I am fortunate in that I will be able to use a friends digital camera starting Monday. So, hopefully I will be able to upload each painting as they are completed. I may on occasion upload an image of a painting in progress, we'll see.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow and getting started on my daily painting. I will attempt to setup everything I will need so that I can concentrate on painting from then on. Of course I still need a good digital camera to take photos of my work so I can upload the images to the blog.
I am hoping to get a strong following of my blog and will be advertising it as much as I can. If anyone reading this can help me out with gaining exposure and a following I would greatly appreciate it.
